The Tanzania Bankers Association (TBA) continues to strengthen financial literacy and inclusion among young people in Zanzibar through a series of financial education initiatives being implemented ahead of the Association’s 30th Anniversary celebrations.

The initiative forms part of TBA’s broader commitment to promoting financial awareness and empowering communities with the knowledge and skills required to make informed financial decisions.

Taking Financial Education to Schools

As part of the initiative, TBA conducted financial literacy sessions at schools in Zanzibar, including Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan Primary School and Commercial Secondary School.

The sessions provided students with practical knowledge on important financial concepts such as saving, budgeting, responsible spending and making informed financial decisions.

Through interactive discussions and practical examples, students were encouraged to develop positive financial habits from an early age.

Empowering the Next Generation

Financial literacy is an important component of financial inclusion. Equipping young people with financial knowledge enables them to better understand financial services and develop responsible money-management practices.

TBA’s financial education activities therefore seek to ensure that young Tanzanians are not only aware of financial products and services, but are also able to use them responsibly and effectively.

Part of TBA’s 30th Anniversary Activities

The financial literacy programme is being implemented as part of activities marking 30 years of the Tanzania Bankers Association.

The activities also complement preparations for the TBA Research and Financial Inclusion Conference 2026 , scheduled to take place in Kizimkazi, Zanzibar.

As TBA marks three decades of contribution to Tanzania’s banking industry, the Association continues to promote initiatives that support inclusive economic development, financial awareness and greater participation in the formal financial system.

The school-based financial literacy programme reflects TBA’s commitment to investing in knowledge and empowering future generations through practical financial education.
