TANZANIA BANKERS ASSOCIATION RESEARCH AND FINANCIAL INCLUSION CONFERENCE 2026, ZANZIBAR
This year’s Research Conference marked the 2nd TBA Research Conference since the Tanzania Bankers Association(TBA) began implementing this initiative. The event was held alongside the 4th Financial Inclusion Conference, while the TBA Gala Dinner culminated the Association’s 30th Anniversary celebrations. The conference programme was rich and engaging, featuring 9 research papers, alongside other important presentations and discussions covering critical issues affecting Tanzania’s and Africa’s financial sector. Our Guest of honor Hon. Dr. Hamad Omar Bakari, The Deputy Minister for Finance and Planning, Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar gave an insightful message during the conference “The Tanzania Development Vision 2050 and the Zanzibar Development Vision 2050 place MSMEs at the heart of building an inclusive and prosperous nation with sustainable development.” The conference brought together researchers, financial-sector leaders, banks, government institutions, academics and other stakeholders
2ND TBA CONFERENCE ON FINANCIAL INCLUSION
The 2nd Conference on Financial Inclusion is an annual conference that brings together financial institutions across the country and all financial sector stakeholders. The conference aims to foster collaboration and dialogue among key stakeholders in the financial sector to spearhead financial inclusion in the country. In the efforts geared towards enhancing financial inclusion, the Tanzania Bankers Association (TBA), hosted the 2nd TBA Conference on Financial Inclusion on 9th February 2024, and this year’s main theme of the Conference is “Sustaining Economic Development through Financial Inclusion”. Our Guest of honor the Governor of the Bank of Tanzania Mr. Emanuel Tutuba, gave an insightful message during the event and launched the Sustainable Finance Principles (SFPs)
TBA INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2024
As a norm, Tanzania Bankers Association hosted the “TBA IWD EVENT 2024” on 4th March 2024, at Onomo Hotel Dar es Salaam. Where this year’s theme “Inspire Inclusion” aligned with our commitment to foster inclusivity and diversity in the banking fraternity and at large. The Guest of Honor Mr. Geofrey Mchangila who is the Vice Chairman of the Tanzania Bankers Association and the CEO of CITIBANK Tanzania gave an inspiring story and highlighted the remarkable progress made in the financial sector towards diversity and inclusion.
21ST CONFERENCE ON FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS
The Conference of Financial Institutions is a forum created in 1980 under the auspices of the Bank of Tanzania for exchanging views and experiences on issues about the financial sector and economy in general. COFI is a biennial event that brings together heads of financial institutions in the country and other stakeholders. This year’s 21st Conference of Financial Institutions (COFI) was held on the 7th & 8th of March 2024 in Arusha, Tanzania with the theme of “Strengthening Financial Sector Resilience Economic Times”. Experienced domestic and international speakers are expected to share experiences on the subject matter.
TBA APPRECIATION NIGHT
Tanzania Bankers Association Appreciation Night Dinner was held on February 2023 at Serena Hotel and the event was graced by the Governor of the Bank of Tanzania, Mr Emmanuel Tutuba. The event aimed at appreciating TBA members for their continued support as well as a bidding farewell to former Governor Prof. Florens Luoga and welcoming the new Governor Mr. Emmanuel Tutuba to the banking fraternity in an event held at Serena Hotel, Dar es Salaam.
10TH AGM MEETING
TBA held its 10th Annual General Meeting at Serena Hotel, Dares Salaam. Among other things discussed at the 10th AGM is the strategic direction for the association for the next 5 years (2023-2028) which outlined 5 strategic choices that TBA will focus on including Research and Analytics, Policy and advocacy, as well as Competence and Professionalism of the banking sector and election of TBA leadership.
